Watch the Trailer for “One Hour Catholic”, Starring Dr. Ray

Piercing Purpose Productions has released the teaser trailer for its latest project, “One Hour Catholic,” starring Dr. Ray.

ABOUT THE MOVIE: A cradle Catholic who has fallen away from the faith struggles to come to an understanding of the Mass and the relevance that it has in her life. A surprising encounter with a Catholic speaker brings Scripture, the Eucharist and this young woman’s life colliding together resulting in, for the first time in her life, a real understanding of the radical love that Jesus has for her. This understanding opens the door to the intimate relationship with the Lord she has unknowingly longed for.

Q&A of the Week

In this week’s featured Q&A — from his book “Discipline That Lasts a Lifetime” — Dr. Ray explains the importance of overcoming discipline guilt.

Q: I know that discipline is a necessary part of parenting, but I feel guilty when I discipline. It makes me feel mean.
—Too Soft?

A: A prime motive for discipline is this: You are the most kind, gentle teacher that your children will ever have. Never again will they be taught how to get along in life by anyone who has so much love for them.

If you don’t discipline now, for whatever reason – because you feel guilty or too strict, or are afraid of doing something “wrong,” or you think it’s just easier to let them go – then who will ultimately discipline your children? The world. And the world is not a kind or gentle place to learn lessons.

If a parent doesn’t teach qualities such as self-control, respect for others, consideration, and ability to follow rules, then the teaching task is thrust upon others: a teacher, employer, landlord, army sergeant, police officer, judge… READ THE FULL Q&A

drrayheadshot2013-3Thank you for visiting My aim is to help you raise great kids. It is to bolster your self-confidence as a parent and to put authority into your hands, where it belongs.

To paraphrase a wise person, parenting is too important to be taken seriously. So we’ll also relax and laugh, whenever and however we can.

As a father of 10 — Honest! They’re ages 16 through 28 — and a clinical psychologist, author, public speaker and national radio and television host, families have been my life.

Whatever I can do to help you learn, laugh and stand strong as a parent, I’m willing. We’ll cover parenting, marriage and families from every direction: From toddlers to teens, child discipline to parenting skills, and adoption to adolescence. You name it; we’ll talk it.
